Kitchen Stoveside Organizer

Stoveside Organizer

Whether you use one crock or several, it’s wise to have essential tools in arm’s reach when you’re at the stove. Martha keeps ladles, whisks, pastry brushes, wooden spoons, and flexible spatulas in separate containers.

Rolling Cart

A cart provides storage where you need it. Martha usually parks this stainless steel one, with tools for cooking, by her range. A small freestanding island on wheels can serve the same purpose and is especially useful in a tight kitchen; it provides a work surface and a casual sideboard. “By adding a custom-cut marble top, a rolling cart can also be used as a bar when entertaining,” Martha says.

Also on the rolling cart: Martha’s mise en place — ramekins of various salts and often-used spices. A pinch is easier to gauge with fingers or a spoon than it is with a shaker.

Italian kitchen design

posted by Kitchen & Bathroom Designer

Italian kitchen design involves creating a work friendly environment that’s equally as welcoming as it is effective. Italian kitchens therefore shouldn’t compromise on style or functionality. Whether you’re creating a modern kitchen design or a country kitchen design, the same set of rules apply for Italian kitchens.

Italian kitchens – style and functionality

A well crafted Italian kitchen design will be everything you’d expect from a nation synonymous with style – sleek surfaces and sharp features, built into a beautifully lit environment. Italian kitchen designs are immediately recognisable because of these features and it’s essential you stay true to them.

Contemporary Italian kitchens are primarily designed to be eye catching and ultra stylish, but that doesn’t mean they compromise on functionality and the basics of kitchen design. More traditional Italian kitchens have a rustic charm and are normally formed with warmer tones and materials but the same rules apply.

If you want a kitchen in your home based on the Italian principles of design, then it’s a good idea to start by thinking about what you use your kitchen for. By doing this you can determine the things you really need and start to eliminate the things you don’t.

Italian kitchen design is all about achieving tasteful lines so getting the right fittings is also essential. Therefore, it’s a good idea to consult with a number of companies to ensure you get the precise look you’re after.

By embracing these two simple ideas you can give yourself the best chance of achieving a bespoke, contemporary, Italian kitchen design.

We have more information on Italian kitchen design in the articles below and can also divert you to a number of the leading suppliers and manufacturers of Italian kitchens.

7 Eco friendly Kitchen Appliances – Help You Reduce Cost and Energy

The kitchen is the place where food is prepared and in which almost each of us pass through every morning before we start the daily activities or in the evening before we go to sleep. It is also the space where the whole family can gather for a comfortable and friendly dinner. For these reasons each of us strives to give a more pleasant appearance to this space. Our concerns should not resume, when selecting furniture and domestic appliances, just to the aesthetic aspect of the kitchen handles, but also to the energy efficiency of small or large appliances and household items. It is recommended to choose those appliances with the lowest power consumption, because in this way we not only save money, but also do our part in helping the environment.

We will offer some suggestions to turn your kitchen into a green space.

Fitted Kitchen Design Advice

Fitted Kitchen Design Advice

If you’re planning a fitted kitchen design and aren’t completely sure about what to choose then here are some really useful things to keep in mind.

fitted-kitchen.jpg

Firstly, start by writing down what you want from your kitchen. For example, do you do a lot of cooking? If so, what appliances do you use the most and how would it most suit you to have things arranged? There’s no point having an excellent looking fitted kitchen if it doesn’t suit your needs.

Once you’ve decided the things you need in your ideal kitchen and where you’d like everything to be located you can then start to think about the theme. The theme will dictate what kind of fitted furniture you have installed. For instance if you go for a contemporary theme, then you’ll probably have more sleek finishes that create a very clean image. A country kitchen design on the other hand will be much more homely and employ wooden surfaces and cupboards.

By taking these things into consideration you’ll be in a much better position for when you eventually look around for your new kitchen. It also means that you won’t be easily persuaded by salespeople to accept the first suggestion they come up with.

Remember, a fitted kitchen design shouldn’t just be easy on the eye; it should also be functional and allow you to go about your day to day lives that little bit easier. It’s amazing just how many people get this wrong and end up with a kitchen that they never want to use because things haven’t been thought out properly. Doing your homework early on in a design can have a monumental effect on the success of your fitted kitchen.

Understanding the Basics of Kitchen Design

posted by Kitchen & Bathroom Designer

For most people, kitchen design is all about updating the appliances and cabinetry in the kitchen. But for me, it is all about getting down to the drawing board and creating a new layout altogether. The entire flow of the kitchen should change when you remodel it.
The focus should be to improvise on the functionality while keeping the aesthetic part in mind. There are some really old tried and tested kitchen design plans that work. You should choose one from amongst these based on the size and shape of your kitchen.
For long and narrow kitchens
If you have a long and narrow kitchen then you might want to opt for the one wall kitchen design. This is one of the most effective and inexpensive designs. Unlike the kitchen triangle, which is a very popular design this one has a linear design. It paves way for smooth functioning and flow of work in the kitchen.
But if you want to maximize the storage space, then this is not the very best design. You might have to use the L shaped design plans along with this one.
The classic triangle
The classic triangle is undoubtedly one of the most famous kitchen designs to have been ever invented. A triangle is formed with the sink, the oven/stove and the refrigerator at each ends. The distance between these three is maintained at optimum levels. Several designs like the corridor design use the classic kitchen triangle to maximize its effectiveness. It brings in more storage space into the kitchen.
The L shaped design
The L shaped design is perfect for large kitchens that always seem crowded. It does away with the storage woes completely and the most important part is that it still uses the classic kitchen triangle.
